Fullscalextric

Whilst in a recent conversation with friends, whilst enthusing on the benefits of trolley buses to people who had never heard of them, we came to the conclusion that not only should the UK develop the infrastructure to run trolley buses but we should also open it up to private as well as public transport.

Currently one of the major changes facing the electric car as it competes with its petroleum powered, polluting predecessors is that current battery technology is extremely inefficient, by running the cars directed from the grid we remove this barrier.

Further environmental benefits could be realised by collecting the excesses energy back from the cars as they descend the many continently located hills in Wales directly back into the grid rather then wasting or trying to store the energy in ineffective batteries.

This would also promote public safety, as the top speed on these roads could easily be controlled by controlling the amount of power it is supplying.

In conclusion turning the UK into a giant full-scale Scalextric would be good fun, good for the environment and good for road safety.

Gemma, Thanks for you thought provoking comment. I think Le Cliff would mostly be concerned with the fact that giving the authorities the power to control cars power would make it harder for him to steal peoples’ cars to go on dates with Sue Barker Linda, tho he might see it as an advantage as he would be less likely to crash the cars into trees.
