Economic Recovery Plan – Part I
20090428, 134024 - 2 commentsLast week Darling introduced in his budget plans to increase the national debt to its highest post war levels. Today I put forward my suggestion of how to jumpstart the economy, one slight difference is that my policy will save money rather than spending it.
I propose that the Driving Test should be abolished, this is not the first time I have proposed this, several years ago (Probably around May 2005 when I failed my 3rd driving test) I proposed that driving should be regulated by the free-market – if people can afford insurance they should be able to drive, however I belive that in light of the current economic crisis it would be a good time to again look at abolishing the driving test.
By no-longer having to fund the DSA and associated organisations the government would be able to save vast amounts of money.
By empowering everyone to be able to drive it would increase their ability to find employment
The policy would create demand for cars, which a lot like the current government offering to give people £1,000 to scrap their car would help to boost the failing car industry in the UK.
This policy would also create more demand for a skilled work force in the areas such as mechanics, body shop workers, paramedics and undertakers.
I have been told, at the conference in Hook, that we can not do this.
Of course traffic will grind to a standstill as motorists are either involved in crashes, or are slowing down to gawk at the crash.
Good point Trooper and thank you for your comment.
I do feel that this stage of traffic grinding to a standstill would only be temporary for 1 of 2 reasons either as stated by Darwin the worse drivers should get killed off the quickest, restoring the equilibrium, or as you mention in your comment the traffic will grind to a standstill and from that point on when all cars are stationary it would be difficult for them to be involved in any further crashes.
